Well it was a great last night in the Cameron Highlands, so with big hangovers Jamie, Zaf and I headed to the bus station and Kuala Lumpur. On the way we stopped at the D'Chennai curry house one more time and got some takeaway roti canai. The bus driver wouldn't let us on with the curry so we had to promise not to eat any of it in order to be allowed on. I was feeling iffy so it didn't bother me - Jamie and Zaf had the odd sneaky bite as we descended from the highlands back to sea level. The roads were all paved but were very windy - the descent lasted about two hours and I was feeling pretty sick. I've never been travel sick and I didn't want to start now. My roti canai was swinging on the hook of the seat in front and just looking at the bag of curry was making my stomach turn.
When we stopped midway Zaf told me he was feeling sick too, if either of us had actually been sick it would have set the other off no doubt!
We arrived in Kuala Lumpur at around 4pm and went off to find the guest house recommended to us by Eddie at Tanah Rata. As the bus pulled away Jamie realised he'd left his guitar and newly made leather hat on board and went off down the long road in pursuit. Later he managed to contact the bus company who got his guitar back after a day or two of touring around Malaysia's midlands. Our hostel wasn't great and the lowland heat was beginning to frustrate. The three of us shared a room with one double bed and a pair of bunk-beds. I suggested we play cards to decide who should get the big bed and less than five minutes later I was sprawling my things over the double in victory. In the evening Zaf and Jamie went out for beers and I chose to stay behind and watch Arsenal beat Man Utd in the roof top bar at the hostel. Oh, was mightily pleased Liverpool beat Chelsea too!
