It didn't take too long to reach Koh Samui where Neil had to get off. We had a cracking time while he was here so thanks again Neil for coming over. As soon as he was gone and the ferry was on its way to the mainland I felt not alone, but independent again. The ferry took another three and a half hours to get to the Surat Thani and I watched a couple of movies in the air-con VIP room. A huge woman with a huge hairdo sat in front of me and blocked half the screen. It would have been ok if she'd have kept still but she was moving her head about all over the place. Everyone else was still as statues but not her!
We got to Surat Thani at about 6pm after a transfer from the ferry port. It's not a nice place to be and I found a local restaurant to eat at. I ordered some mustard pork soup since I like mustard, pork and soup - never had it together though! The menu didn't mention all the cabbage that would come with it - it was a bad choice.
I met a nice German couple so we did the whole football chat routine and the guy gave me a beer out of his back too. That broke my tiny resolution to have a beer free week know I'd gotten the Thailand partying out of the way. During the next five hours I met an Australian guy and an Icelandic girl (first time I met someone from Iceland while traveling). It was a boring night waiting for a 12.54am train which eventually arrived at about 2.15am.
