Wow it got cold last night. Only one blanket so half-way through the night I put my clothes back on and found another blanket - I never warmed up properly and stayed awake till first light. When that came I went outside to get some of its warming rays on me! Gradually the group woke up and we had a tasty breakfast of eggs and toast - and even coffee. Only Gabi, Borat and me were on a two-nights trek so we left the others and joined a new group. That new group were in a similar bamboo hut on the other side of the village. There were 2 Canadian girls, 3 American lads, 1 Japanese guy, and 3 Australians so again I was the only English but that was no problem of course. It felt like three new housemates being added to the house in tv's "Big Brother" but it was a younger group and I felt like it would be more fun.

We set off on a cracking trek through some really good scenery followed by dense jungle 1 Sunrise

. For lunch we stopped at a very small clearing. The guys in the group already had little bamboo "dinner plates"
made by the guide - we didn't have those so the guides made us the disposable equivalent out of broad leaves shaped and held in place with more bamboo. Food was warm fried rice and veg out of a thermos box but good enough - we needed the energy. The trek was challenging and I didn't expect that, you had to be on your guard for loose rocks on the steep downhill parts. I trod on one and it just gave way with me following onto my back-side all good fun though. Borat was good value keeping the new group guessing whether he is crazy or not. At one point he was down to his pants swimming in the river against the fast current!

We stopped at a great waterfall and got in the pool below it - there wasn't much room and you get a real power shower treatment that can knock you over if you get unlucky.

Our accommodation for the evening was a jungle hut in a small clearing by a stream. There were a few other bamboo huts in the clearing but unlike the village its sole purpose was putting up trekkers for the night. A nice fire was already burning when we arrived and good food didn't take much time to arrive either. The evening was spent playing games, drinking beers and the local moonshine. I had a better evening that the night before - I think I was a bit dehydrated then I think.
