From Ometepe the next stop was San Juan Del Sur, a resort town close to the Panamanian border. Although itīs a tourist town the town itself doesnīt have much of an infrastructure. The road there is pretty bad and the roads in town are pretty bad. It seems like more of a stop off point for cruise ships as this seems to be the easiest way to get there.
The main beach in San Juan isnīt really that nice but a half hours 4WD journey away there are some really nice almost deserted surfing beaches. Unfortunately there wasnīt much surf there when we were there but the beach was a welcome change from the town.
