After seeing all of the South Island I was prepared for the North Island to be not as good. Indeed if you believed the South Islanders, the North Island and Auckland are amongst the most dangerous places in the world with huge crime rates and everyone hating everyone. Naturally it's not like that at all although there was a definite change in the atmosphere in Wellington. Everything seemed just a bit more anonymous but thats just because the South Island is really one big village whereas the North Island holds the majority of the Kiwi populations even though it's smaller in area.
Wellington is the capital of New Zeland and like any capital it has lots of museums and galleries. The Te Papa museum is very good wioth displays from Maori and European culture through to all the earthquakes, volcanoes and other geographical events that shape New Zealand. The earth quake simulator is quite good too giving you an idea what it's like to experience an earthquake.
Wellington is also a very windy city due to all the winds being channeled between the North and South Island. This wind makes it a little bit chilly too. In terms of sights other than museums there's the New Zealand parliament which looks like, well a parliament house.
For the last time I met up with Dave and Roisin. Still no sign of the boxer, I'm just going to have to let them go. They're off to Australia next so best of luck with that guys, you'll be missing New Zealand though as it is a lot better than Australia.
