Broome in WA is a failry small town with a huge beach called cable beach. Most people here are either on holidays or are here to work on the pearling boatys. Broome is a major centre of pearling and there are loads of pearl farms off the coast. A lot of backpackers come here to do a few weeks work on the boats with the result that it's now quite difficult to get a job on them and people even have to wait.
Well I wasn't here for work so the other thing to do is relax on the beach. On the first day at the beach I couldn't swim as there was a croc in the water! We could see him swimmimg around, pretty crazy really. Luckily he was gone the next day and normal business resumed at the beach.
Apart from the beach there's not a whole lot to Broome. This weekend was a bank holiday weekend so there were horse races on. Definitely the smallest racecourse I've ever seen and it realy felt like a small country town event with a fashion show by a local clothes shop between the races. Didn't win anything on the horses.
Broome is also famous for its 'stairway to the moon'. During full moon as the moon comes up over the bay it looks a bit like a stairway to the moon. Unfortunately you really need a tripod so my pictures didn't come out very well.
