After spending almost a week in Kuta I decided it was time to get out
of there and see if the rest of Bali was any better. I got a bus up to
Lovina at the very north of the island. Unfortunately there aren`t any
waves here but there`s lots of doplhins , snorkelling and black sand
beaches
Arriving in Lovina I was immediately struck by how much quieter it was.
There were very few tourists around and naturally less touts too. It
definitely had a more laid back feel to it and with tourist nmbers so
low it was easy to get a hotel
pool and was obviously quite a luxurious hotel but rooms were now
available for only E5 a night.. Definitely much better value than Kuta
where I was staying in a pretty grotty place.
Lovina was definitely a lot better than Kuta. You still got hassled to
sell things but not as much and the people seemed more geninely
friendly and remained friendly even if you didn`t buy anyhing off them.
If only there were waves there I would have stayed in Lovina the whole
time. Instead I went snorkellin which was ok and hunh by the pool a
lot. I didn`t see any dolphins but then I`ve seen plenty of them down
in Dingle so not too worried about that :)
