The third day of the trip was to be the most gruelling with us covering about 220km in one day. As we were covering a lot of ground there were less stops and more time between them. By the end of the day we had definitely had enough of sitting on motorbikes and were looking forward to getting back on to buses. Plenty more ethnic minorities to see and even a few wobbly suspension bridges to cross. We stayed the night in Komtum where we visitied an orphanage and wooden church. Apart from that there wasn't much to see in Komtum. Everything was shut by 10pm even though it was a Saturday night so we had no choice but to go back to the hotel room.
Lucily we had cable tv and I was able to watch the Ireland England ruby game where we absolutely destroyed England and gave them a lesson in how to play rugby :).
The next day was a shorter one distance wise and the scenery started to change as we went higher in the mountains. The weather got colder and the scenery a lot greener. This was definitely the best scenery we had seen and the cool mountaion air was a welcome change from the heat we had endured further south. We were also further from tourists as every person we passed (mostly members of the ethnice minority community) shouted hello to us. Almost everyone seemed to have a water buffalo with them. These buffalos are absolutely massive and once or twice we had to swerve to avoid them on the road.
That niht we stayed in kam duc, a very small town high up in the mountains. Not much to see in the town although once again we got some great food, this time venison with noodles.
