Being so close to New York and the end of our trip, in order to keep you all interested (if anybody is still actually reading after 12 months), I would love to write about a really adventurous day where so many amazing things happened. Instead, all I have is a very relaxed Sunday ride which seemed to last for an eternity and end up at another Kampground of America site.

My 1 year anniversary plans started yesterday when Polly hacked into the computer to discover that I was downloading 'Alias-Season 5'.  We were lucky enough in New Zealand to meet some people who had a whole library of episodes for us to watch on the computer, we have been ploughing our way through these in the tent across USA.  With seasons 1-4 covered (about 40 hours of viewing), We were desperate to catch the concluding season.  Some would say 14 episodes of a very trashy US spy serious is lacking romantic imagination, I would agree, but it is not easy to buy presents when all you have is Walmart and Mcdonalds.  I tried my best to make the present more flamboyant by disguising my plans in a code, using The New York Times as a tool.  It took Polly half an hour to decipher the code and by the end it was more painful than enjoyable.

With yesterdays anniversary of 10 years together in the past and todays anniversary of 1 year married underway we hit the road for another 50 miles.  It was a really long day, 7 hours cycling but all very relaxed.  Hills were in our way but we took them slowly and the old route 22 delivered us safely to New Tripoli.  It is an area of green beauty, unbelievable to think that we are so close to New York.  We even stopped off at a hotel to buy some beers, it had a very English pub feel about it with a row of drunk blokes lined up along the bar giving the third degree about The Queen.

Just as we arrived and checked into our cabin (yep, smoothy here booked a cabin for the anniversary, didn’t think the tent would be a winner in anniversary number 1) the heavens opened and we sat back to enjoy a storm pass over head.

If has been a quite a year since the wedding.  Thank you all for your lovely messages and the support you have given us.  In our second year of marriage we plan to do much less cycling!

Miles Cycled:  49 relaxed Sunday miles

In case that last message seemed like I was being criptic - I wasn't. Just didn't want to go on about our drunken weekends ;-)

Ellie and I so excited about just 5 more sleeps before we see you. You had an answerphone message today - from the foster people, wondering if you were back and could have Joe this weekend!! I phoned back and said I thought not. Dads and I saw Claudia Purley this weekend - so grown up, she was earning a bit of pocket money serving champagne on a gin palace. We had a good catch up and I took a photo which I will email to you Pols. Tons of love xxxxx

Have loads of happy memories of your lovely wedding day. Congratulations on your first anniversary. Couldn't email you on the day as was busy sailing very badly in both regattas. Am slightly concerned that George thinks it's feasible that Charlotte and I sail a laser with an asymmetric. (Have not broken the news to Charlotte yet ). Can't tell you how excited everybody is about your homecoming. See you at the weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!XXXXXXXXXXXX

Wow. So very excited about seeing you at the weekend. Really good luck with your last few days. Incredible that a year has passed since your brilliant wedding. I've warned my brother that he can expect a full on rave in his field on Saturday night. What time does your flight get into Gatwick? I know you've probably told us all but I cannae remember. Loads of love then and see you in a few days. BM X
