There was a spider in the tent this morning. Not in our tent but in that of the 5 children from the family who had set up camp next to us last night. I know that there was a spider in the tent because the 5 children spent half an hour running around and screaming at a time of the day which I prefer little noise.  The mother (who was pregnant with number 6) and father had clearly developed an impermeable noise proof bubble around themselves as they were able to remain in their tent whilst the kids created some healthy campground chaos.

We passed on the campsite kitchen and instead headed for MaccyDs.  The 'Big Breakfast' proved to be too big and I saddled up feeling very sick.  Polly stuck with her favourite pancakes and cycled away in much better shape.

The day was then just a straightforward 50 something miles.  In many ways, being so late in the trip, I am glad that it is uneventful cycling.  However it was a little boring.  We cycled up and down hills all day. The type of cycling, which as I have mentioned before, is not easy at all.  The down hills are over very quickly and you spend 80% of your day going uphill.  There really were no flat sections to the day and it resulted in 7 hours in the saddle. We cycled, stopped at a gas station for drinks and snacks, cycled some more, then stopped at another gas station for drinks and snacks, and then we cycled some more.  I think you get the picture.

Half way we passed through Zanesville.  On entering the town there was a huge sign proclaiming that this town had been voted Ohio’s Best Hometown. Well, whoever was on that judging must be nuts.  It was a real dump with most of the shops closed down and loads of scalleys around.  One jeep, full of beings from much lower down the evolutionary scale, gave us some full bodied abuse as they pulled away from the lights.

Later in the day, we arrived at Spring Valley Campsite.  We were greeted by the wonderful owners who clearly knew a thing or two about cycling and travel.  Their two lovely dogs in reception were just as welcoming.  We have set up camp on a beautiful site with the sun setting on another long day in the saddle.

Miles Cycled; 56 which mostly felt uphill

No. of times beeped and sworn at:  once by a car full of nutters

You seem to be eating up the miles - I only have to zoom in once to get your current destination and NY on the same picture! What a mixed bag you are coming across you may find the cycling a bit tedious at times but the mixture of people is wonderful. Take care LOL Jojo

You are going great guns - well done. Just got back from Cowes again and poor Dads has just set off for Cowes again!! I didn't see Dan, but he should be with him. Have got a nice bit of time to clean myself up and pack a few things for France - no idea what the weather will be like - I suspect it will be very similar to here.
I suppose I won't have the internet for a few days, so well try and send the odd text message - please don't reply. Gosh - two weeks to go, so excited. Just you two take care - heaps of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I got a puncture on my bike today in Vienna, so maybe I can show some sort of solidarity now???

Mikey - Important news. Pompey lost again this weekend. They haven't won a game all season yet and Southampton are joint top.

Both - fantastic reading your stories, not long now. Fantastic stuff.
