Where I stayed
We thought it would only take a couple of hours to ride from the outskirts into downtown St Louis but getting into major cities is always a challenge and this was no exception. On the advice of the very helpful KOA man, we doubled back 5 miles and found a road which led us all the way to the hotel door. It made the ride longer than we had hoped and the road was pretty hectic but looking back I think his advice was sound.
We only had one worrying moment on a very quiet section of industrial estate where a guy pulled us over to question what we were doing. His point was that we are in one of the most dangerous cities in the US and if we are planning on heading out east, we should think again
Arriving at the hotel was great. The ride up to the door gave us a glimpse of the incredible Busch Stadium where we would later be watching our first ever baseball game. We were checked in with impressive ease and the bikes were locked away for a couple of days ( I am at the point where I would happily never see them again ).
The build up to the game left no time for relaxing, we were off to watch The Cardinals and we had a great night. Hotdogs, Budweiser, souvenir Tshirts, Nachos, Ice Cream, Foam Hand waver thingy, we did the lot and loved the game. It seemed pretty uneventful until the 7th when it came to life and we got a couple of home runs. The Cardinals ended up losing but obviously it didn't matter to us. We had a great time!
Miles Cycled; 38, so much for a short hop into town
