It would simply be a waste of my time writing about today and a waste of your time reading about it. Therefore, I will keep it brief.

-         We left the campsite at Eketahuna early, some guy had rocked up at 7:30 am to shout into the tent "camp fees".  He could have been anyone but we presumed he was the campsite manager so we chucked a few dollars out through the front zip.

We cycled 30 miles to Woodville, stopping one for snacks and waving at a convoy of classic cars out for their Saturday jolly.  The 30 miles were dull and grey.

In Woodville we had a lovely chat with the very friendly i-Site lady.  There were lots of motor bikers in leathers hanging around revving their engines, bless them, back to the office in a shirt and tie on Monday morning. Born to be wild!  Talking of wild, we used our new Thermos flask today at lunch.  I really enjoyed the pea and ham soup.

All day was into a head wind so the last 15 miles to Dannevirke finished us off.  It was raining and although we have now left ourselves a very long day tomorrow (78 miles will be quite a struggle in New Zealand into this wind), we called it a day.  The $5 Coffee and Muffin deal in McCafe was possibly the highlight of the day. YEP, that good!

The campground at Dannevirke is pretty wacky again.   No one around but it does come complete with aviary.  Polly has said that she wants to get a little bird when we get home, I told her one bird in my life is enough.

So here we are, typing and reading away in another camp kitchen.  We have received an email back from Graeme that he would love us to stay with him tomorrow night.  We met Graeme and Robyn in Istanbul, they are a wonderful couple who had been cycling around Eastern Europe.  We have cycled about 11,000 km since then so we will have lots to catch up on.

Miles Cycled:  45 and that probably leaves far too many to do tomorrow

Oh guys! Seems like a tough few days but you have at least cheered up my Monday morning back at work! Am sure that you are going to have an epic few days now with lots of fun and frolics!

Great that you are meeting upwith friends - hope the trip wasn't too exhausting and you got there okay. North Island doesn't quite match up to South Island maybe? Still, a way to go yet. Had first real rain here last night (all night) for months so Mandy and I were lucky with weather yesterday going around Bosham to look at all the 'open gardens' - it has completely re-jigged my layout of the village - there are so many places I didn't even know existed before! Amanda Mae is back fro her holiday with Dom in Corfu and is straight into a lesson this morning in a strange school as part of her interview so we are all hoping for the best.
Looking forward to next installment all love Jojo

Pols - may I make it absolutely clear - before the event - that Newton is enough of a baby sitting problem and, should Newt not eat the bird on first sight, I am not keen on caged birds (sorry Pip and Chris - budgies from my childhood) and therefore I'm on Mikey's side and think one bird in the Neville household is enough!!
Am so pleased to have got your email last night and to know you got safely to Napier! Great going you two - tons of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
PS Dan's hoping someone is going to pick him up at Gatwick at 1.40am tonight (tomorrow)!

As usual added a comment and then lo and behold the updates appeared!! Looking at other comments everyone else seems to be updated earlier than me!!! N Island seems to be really hard work - hopefully you will get a following wind at some point - makes my legs sore thinking about your efforts!!
John is hobbling about due to a really sore knee - so sore that he is withdrawing from a golf comp today - apart from that we are fine - have had a lot more rain than the south and are about 10 degrees colder - certainly not summer here! I think we need a holiday somewhere hot.
Looking forward to more blogs - take care Love Lindy

North Island dosn't seem so god but must visit there sometime.

Tonight receivfed a call from the police asking if I had got my car back as it has been reported today driving in the Southbourne Hambrook area They said had never heard of a stolen car being used in the same area and all their officers are now searching for it - Sad as Dan's volvo which is a much better car. I will keep you informed on this exciting story !
Your trek tomorrow sounds dull but I'm sure we will enjoy reading it tomorrrow.

Hoping by adding a comment the update for the last week will magically appear as it usually does!!! Gather from Trica's comment that you made it to Napier - a long day I would think.
Hope all is well Love Lindy
