Surrounded by ducks, Polly swiftly re-zipped the tent to stop them from getting any closer. They were of course encouraged by my trail of bread from the kitchen but it was the first of many great animal encounters from the day.  Next we fed the emu's, the fat pig and the deer.  That was even before we left the campsite.

With only 40 or so miles to do today we were very laid back about things.  After 7 miles we came across 'Animal Farm Café’.  I think normally we would pedal on by but we stopped and ordered a couple of big hot chocolates.  They even had the Sunday papers on offer.  Then we hit the Animal Farm. It was brilliant.  Armed with a bag of sheep pellets, we quickly made friends with ducks, goats, sheep, cows, ostriches, donkeys, ponies and llamas.  We loved it, a great Sunday hour.

The rest of the day was pretty straight forward.  We followed a rolling gorge before turning off for St Arnaud where the valley opened up and we enjoyed some glorious flat roads.  It was again a change of scenery and the last hour or so into St Arnaud was stunning.

St Arnaud did not disappoint either. The hostel we checked into was very cosy and after a quick walk down to the lake to try and spot native eels (negative) we stocked up in St Arnaud local store for a night in front of the fire.

Miles Cycled: 39 and for once we took our time
