Its rained ALL day today in true English style. We seem finally to have got our body clocks sorted and managed to get up at 9am so we could catch up both sets of parents on skype (They were sensibly getting ready for bed) and also called 30 Williams Road where a party was just getting started and everyone was pretty incoherent! We were glad to see Giles and Charlotte made it home safely though and think its pretty hilarious that they took the bedbugs from the hostel with them and infested the 5* hotel! Someone's going to be doing some pretty serious complaining.

Theres not much to do here with a destroyed city and pouring rain, so we spent the rest of the day efficiently planning our route through the rest of the country, doing washing, repacking the panniers ready to leave tomorrow and best of all picking up our mended bikes. As expected they were truly destroyed and needed even more parts than had first been anticipated. Hopefully decent roads from here on should mean they make it home without too much more work - we could have bought new ones several times over by now.

Mikey’s just cooking pasta to fuel us for tomorrow before we head back to the TV room for a bit of warmth before bed. Fingers crossed for no rain tomorrow, but we bought some washing up gloves to keep our hands warm and cosy if not!

Miles cycled: 4 smooth but cold and wet miles back from Papanui Bikes– phew!
