Happy Birthday Giles! Whichever one of us thought that it would be a real treat for G to spend the morning of his birthday on a walking tour of Kuching, which took in several museums, a mosque and James Brooke monument, must have been completely off their rocker. Giles, quite rightly, did not show any sign of excitement about his birthday until we had concluded the city tour and rested for lunch.  Not even the presentation of a green sponge cake which I had searched high and low for could kick start the fun.  Then, following a wonderful present from Charlotte over lunch, the day gathered momentum.

First it was an impromptu visit to a world renowned traditional tattoo artist.  We all left without a mark on us, mostly due to his ridiculous pricelist. We then spent a relaxing early evening back at the hostel, followed by a top meal in the tranquillity of an outdoor Living Room restaurant.  This set us up wonderfully for an evening of celebrating Giles 31st.  Yep, full stop.

Miles Cycled: 0, walking tour was hard enough work
