It was an early start to catch the ferry to Ko Phi Phi. This was the first part of an island hop that will hopefully navigate us around the flooded roads of Southern Thailand and into Malaysia.  We have made a big detour to get to this point and have all our fingers crossed that the ferries will be running and will accept the bikes along the way.

The short ride to the ferry was made tricky with yet another puncture to Polly's rear wheel.  There must be something in the rim as all of the punctures of the last few days have been in that wheel. A very ambitious moto tout pulled us over and offered to lead us to the ferry pier for a fee.  This was despite very clear signs on the roads and the fact it was only around the next corner.  We thanked him for his offer and laughed him off.

Result.  The bikes were on the ferry with very little fuss.  We were so early (Polly likes to arrive at places a minute before departure, I like to avoid this stress and leave nothing to chance), OK, in this case we were much too early and then sat on deck sweating it out for 45 minutes.  I could sense Polly was a little unimpressed!

The boat ride was beautiful and we arrived on Ko Phi Phi before lunch.  It is a stunning place and we were itching to dump our stuff and get in the water.  Before however we had the business of sorting out the next boat.  This, as expected, proved to be very tricky.  It was not looking good with the bikes and even now we are uncertain as to whether we can make it to Malaysia on this route.

We checked in to a shabby room and crawled down to the beach.  The several hundred miles of the last few days and the ever increasing temperatures have left us in a strange daze. The water did wake us up and the swim was the best.

After the dip we had a good lunch and booked onto a snorkelling trip.  This was a great afternoon.  Ferried around Ko Phi Phis 2 islands we jumped on and off the boat into crystal clear waters.  There were loads of fish to chase and dive with and the islands huge cliff faces were jaw dropping.  The trip ended with a stop at THE Beach.  The location for Leonardo’s 2000 performance in The Beach, you could see why they had picked this place out.  The only difference between our visit and the film was the 100 or so other tourists.  Oh well!

Back on the main island we had a great Thai Red Curry for dinner.  I was not sure if it was supposed to be more or less spicy than the Green Curry.  I quickly realised the answer was 'more’.

A very good day, now we hopefully go to Ko Lanta tomorrow to see if our luck is in with the ferry to Langkawi.

That must be th most stunning scenery yet - so glad you seem to be making the most of it - the diving must have been spectacular.
