I had woken Polly in the night, the unfamiliarity of the bunks must have freaked me and I thought Polly was not in the room. I shouted lots until Polly calmly asked what was the matter! Breakfast was included, went for it and stocked up on meats, cheeses and breads. Early dept at 9 and enjoyed the early morning mist clearing off Lake Ebensee. The tops of cliff faces appeared out of the sky and the cycle to Gmunden was good. More of The Historian kept us entertained and after a hilly 15 miles we took morning cafe latte. We did 10 more to Pettenbach where we found a great pub for our Sunday lunch. We had a cheeky wine and beer and enjoyed the friendly waitresses in traditional Austrian cowgirl outfits (great!). The place was full of Austrian families enjoying Sunday so I went for the local Schnitzel dish, very good it was to. Getting back on the bike is very difficult after such a nice warm relaxing stop. It continued with the hills but got to Steyr (they make over two thirds of BMW engines here apparently) in 49 miles but we then had our first failure with the map. A TEN MILE detour finally took us to a lovely little campsite by a river where a lovely old man (his number plate was CAMPING 1) served us a well earned beer. We sat back and cooked, Polly reading her way to the finale of The Kite Runner. I read about Steyr and importantly stumbled across the towns Water Witch, I think it is this point that she put her curse on me.
