Sore legs in the night.  Demolished a six pack of tarte aux pommes for breakfast before grabbing our morning coffee in the nearest village.  It was the build up to a weekend of festival so there was hip euro tunes blaring out over the tannoy.  An hour and a half later we had reached Artenay, a boring stretch with my knees really reminding me of my thirty something age.  Football everyday as a kid followed by several marathons have clearly taken their toll.  We saw the longest lorry parked up in the distance and played 'guess what is on the back of that lorry'.  The answer turned out to be the blades for one of the many wind turbines we had seen scattered around the vast agricultural landscape.  A drinks stop in Neuville-sur-bois led to the final ride out of the 'Beuce' region which was not a bad thing as all we had been looking at for a couple of days was fields of veg.  Potatoes, corn and onions as far as the eye could see.  Each village connected by a long sraight road, about 5km between each one.  It would grow as you got closer and then before you know it you are out the other side, staring down the next one.  Lunch was amazing, sat along side the Canal d'Orlean seating bread and pate with a couple of Kronenbergs.  Ducks splashing about in the water and behind a cheeky dog whining for attention in the hedge.  After lunch a pretty tough ride took us to Chateaneuf -sur-Loire where to our delight a beautiful campsite on the banks of the Loire awaited us.  We paddled in the river and then went into town to grab the finest sausages I have ever had.  A Turkish wedding hollowed through town, boy racers forming a wedding procession blasting their horns around and around.  Finest sausages ended a perfect day, early to bed again at around 9pm.
