What an amazing start.  Delicious brunch with so many wonderful friends, thank you so much to Tony and the Anchor Bleu team.  30 of us cycled the first leg to Portsmouth, some on bikes which were far from road worthy!  An emotional departure on Sailing barge Alice was made so memorable by a huge  turn out (love you all family,  friends and a big  team from St. Albans primary).

After 4 hours of fighting the enormous waves and wind skipper Alan made the wise call to return  to Portsmouth before we  lost someone over the side.  A shame but saved us 17 hours of hell and no  sleep as we all kept watch.

An crazy first day  ended with a delicious supper and a cosy bed alongside back at Gun Wharf!

On itouch in nice hotel room in Voves because after 73 miles today we could not find a campsite. Oh well, will have to enjoy a hot shower after a mad night on a farm last night. Will do much needed blog update when we can get time at a proper keyboard. Charges cathedral was stunning today, thank you for all the messages, they make the bum blisters all worthwhile xx

Jojo & Christopher on

One week on and you seem to have covered a huge distance! The sun is shining today in Bosham and we are all thinking of you lots. E, Olaf and I went to check out the new Vicar - I think he will do very nicely, especially as he gave the big O a blessing!

When do you expect to cross the boarder into Switzerland? All out Love

clareabelle on

wow you two...72miles! sorry to hear you have bum blisters...ouch! just skyped my sister for the last hour in Columbia, she's getting a boat for the next 5days to Panama & sends all her love to you both. Lovely & sunny here today xxx on

Think I've now got to grips with this blog business - it didn't do what I was expecting, but hopefully this will find you! Utah Beach this time last week and already you've travelled miles on. Are you on yellow or green roads? Dads playing on Barge at moment but we both send tons of love to you both. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Charlotte Eastley on

Can't believe it has been a week already - sounds lke you are having a fab time!! Apart from the blisters :-) Not much happening here but expecting a severe bout of Monday illness from Giles after a weekend in London! Much love xxxxxxxxxx

pollyandmikey on

OK. We are getting used to this blogging business. I have just added an entry for last Monday (we are a week behind). It has not been easy getting on the internet but as we get more used to things we will try and be more frequent. Hope you are all well XX
