What I did
Waited for a flight to Travis AB, Fairfield, Californa
We shared a room at Kanto Lounge and that saved us both travel expenses. It was 41 dollars a night and we happily split the bill. Very nice..with a private room with tv, living room with another tv and complete kitchen. Food wise, we went to the Base exchange and ate at the food court and bought some tv dinners at the commissary for the following meals which is way cheaper than eating at the messhall or anywhere else on and off base. I know it is expensive because even the messhall is expensive. I ate breakfast there for $6.05, omelete with cream beef and biscuit, a banana, and bottle of mineral. After 3 nights of waiting to catch a flight, I finally got on as the 14th passenger out of 15 passengers
Friday 1010pm - arrived from Kadena, Okinawa
Saturday 1130am - walked to Japanese Immigration office and got our passport stamped for entry
1430pm - roll call at the terminal for the Patriot Express flight to Seattle, no seats available
Sunday 1100am - went to immigration and got exit stamp
1400pm - roll call for flight going to Elmerdorf AB, Alaska. There were 50 plus seats available but was wiped out to zero seats. What a Bummer!!!
Monday 0400am - roll call for Travis. Got the 14th seat out 15. Lucky bastard I am!!!
0630am - departed for Travis
Lessons learned here are : Always call for flight information early morning when you wake up in case there are changes. Use the shuttle bus to get around. When arriving in the terminal, always report in as present prior to rollcall. Look for a travel buddy to save money on lodging.
