Anyone out there own a Lab?  Well, we didn't dry our off properly after going to the beach on Sunday and he's got a hot spot, which is a bacterial skin infection.  In the states, if you catch is soon enough, you just put some antibiotic goo on it and it goes away, but here, Oye vey, it has taken over and we are headed for a big nasty meat-face.  The heat and humidity plus he can't stop itching it and it's bleeding, then he goes outside and rubs his face on the ground. AAAAGGGHHHH!  Talk about adding insult to injury, or adding filth to bacteria.  It has gone from pea-sized to the size of the palm of my hand overnight.  Nothing stresses me out like bacteria that I can't wrangle into submission.
With two and a half weeks until Holiday break, I can see the finish line, although really, it isn't halfway through the school year.  I don't know why we teachers do it to ourselves.  David and I are trying to get to South Africa for the spring break in February and March, but we will be here through the vacation.  I don't really like Christmas or New Years for that matter, and the menorah was lost in transition, good luck replacing THAT in Africa, but this year I am determined to have a really really good time, even if it kills me.  I am going to accept and give presents with joy and aplomb and enjoy myself, Goddamnit.   I have officially exorcized all of my homesickness demons left hanging around from Thanksgiving and enjoy what I have asked for and the Universe was kind enough to deliver.

You poor things
Do you need me to send some antibiotic ointment for your dog? Not sure how long it would take to get there, but I figured it was worth asking. Are there any 'natural' anti-bacterials you can get locally?

Sorry
Sorry, that last comment was from Karen Elowitt, your cousin in California. (Just realized that 'zyggurat' doesn't tell you much.)
