Thanksgiving has long been my favorite holiday. It's the best thing about America, I think. And although I tried hard to ignore it's coming and passing, it has struck me like a 2 x 4. A wave of homesickness startling in it's intensity has come over me. Suddenly I want to see relatives and eat food with them and talk about everything. The things I miss right now are:
Deimand Farm Turkey (and Tony Deimand too)
Squash and Leek casserole with goat cheese Hazelnut crust
Pumpkin Pie
Mashed potatoes with parsnips and sour cream
Acorn, Delicata and Butternut squash
Caramelized onions with reduced balsamic and honey glaze
Broccoli
Coop and Hungry Ghost bread
California reds
My peeps
Unbuttoning my pants after dinner
Uncle Bob
All the family
And with Obama coming to the White House, there is really something to celebrate. So please, anyone who reads this and happens to love me, think about me at Thanksgiving. I really do miss it.
