So I was at the beach last week with the boys and their full-sized shovels. They got busy using them as levers, trying to roll a six-foot log down the sand into the water. The waves kept pushing it back up the slope. They kept at it for a good twenty minutes, occasionally getting it into the water, only to see it wash up a minute or two later twenty yards down the beach. Another ten minutes went by and the log ended up right back where they'd found it.

As with most everything the boys do around here, the locals were delighted to watch and marvel at their energy and their stuff. Today we were at a different end of the beach, by the Pyramid restaurant and playground. A small troop of local boys took over throwing the ball for Lyle, then insinuated themselves into our circle of shovels and trucks and played alongside Oscar and Henry for a good thirty minutes. We ended up moving along back to the Pyramid playground just in time for the blowing up of a jumpy castle! Ah, a few minutes of not needing to parent diligently...

Tonight we're overjoyed to have the wi-fi hookup working well enough to stream some music from WFUV. Our connection was erratic over the last little while, it's nice to have some decent connectivity.

Another couple dropped by to check out the school, with their six year old twins who don't speak much English. I really think the demand is going to start to swell very very soon.
