So if your ever in Pointe-Noire, get the fish. Holy Cow, it is so good. Today was a lazy Saturday; we went to lunch at Twiga Restaurant right on the beach, so yummy. All the travel guides tell us not to eat salads, but I had a salade Niciose and the veggies were so fresh that I just couldn't resist. I guess I'll know within 8 hours wether or not it was a big mistake. I figure that you can't just go without veggies for the whole time, right? We met a really nice French couple with their 5-month old baby, Yvonna, and Oscar and Henry acted as our ambassadors of love. Drawing pictures for Yvonna and loving her up.

The surf is powerful, although we see surfers every time we go. Oscar now has aspirations of becoming an afro-Zephyr surfer dude. We are told that the tide will pull you straight to South Africa, and that will be that. In the distance you can see the wrecked remains of an old bridge out to what is a defunct magnesium mine which apparently never got off the ground.

We met one of the parents this week, a very self-assured guy with two kids. He wants to make sure the kids will be active enough, and wants us to take the students to a swimming pool for gym. I couldn't agree more. I secretly hope that he works his magic and we're able to find a pool nearby or get a membership to a health club with a pool.

We have a really nice neighbor, Brian, who lets us come over and use his pool anytime we want. He's from Pennsylvania by way of Texas and never uses it anyway. We made friends with the Congolese family across the street pictured in an earlier entry. David and the boys, including Lyle, brought over the stomp-rockets, which are a big hit in any language. All the kids played for a while and the dad tried to talk David intot buying one of the bed-frames that he makes for a living.
