The Cape WhoooHooo!
Entry 5 of 56 | show all | print this entry |
The kids last day of school is tomorrow, then we go to the Cape for a week with Auntie Lou, my best friend, and then we move home, temporarily. The Cambridge apartment is in shambles, boxes everywhere. I have entered the phase where any one thing could be packed or not. It's very meditative. I don't have to own the hunt for the perfect toy or the must-have shoes. And the boys have been a tremendous help, really. Who would've thought that a three and four year old cold pack their own room? But they did. They were really excited about it. They used the adult tape to tape up their boxes and they each packed for themselves. Primo packing his box and Segundo packing his. The strange thing is that for all the separation of ballast that was happening, they weren't fighting! So we have just a few hours left here, off to Chatham on Cape Cod for seven days, the moving truck arrives two days after we return from the cape and we move home to Western Mass. We will be there one week before hosting a party in honor of my husband's 40th birthday and his recent Master's degree. After that we have three weeks and two days to pack, get vaccinated, rent the house, tattoo the dog, sell the car, and re-pack the rest of our stuff back into storage until next summer. I've also been encouraging family and friends to visit. We won't see them at all, so they might as well come while they can!! We're each allowed two checked bags up to 70lbs, the dimensions of which may not equal more than 62". We are then each allowed two carry-on items, plus the dog, who needs to go on a serious diet if he thinks he's coming to Africa. The upshot: a Mountain of Baggage.
