At the end of the tour we tasted one white, one rose, one red and a dessert wine. It was so fun, we had a nice group for our wine tasting and we learned a lot. This is a great tour for beginners, or so I read online, and I would agree. Nothing snobbish about it at all.
Right up the road heading back to Napa is the Oakville grocery, THE spot to get your picnic supplies. this was our second "splurge" - we don't eat out much or pay much for food when we travel. I know for a lot of people it's a huge part of a trip, but not for us! We bought some picnic supplies, a bit pricey, and then bought a bottle of wine at Diamond Oaks so we could sit in thier picnic area - we had it reserved and were the first ones there so we got the best table, with a spectacular view of the valley
Upon arrival in SF we drove down South Van Ness by mistake. I liked this area, very Hispanic,
I like that vibe. I wanted to return to eat or shop there but we never got the chance.
We found our hotel, room on 21 floor but very fast elevators. We had a city view and could see a corner of the bay. After settling in, we headed for Lombard Street and the crookedest street. I just wanted to be a tourist here! Pat and I walked up as the line of cars was backed up for blocks. We took pictures of the bay and ran around up top while we waited for Danny to arrive with the car. Then we hopped in and drove "the crookedest street", not sure what all the fuss is about apart from the great views.
Next we drove over the GG bridge, parked and walked part way across it. Lots of activity here!
It costs 6 dollars toll to cross back! Pat planned out his morning jog.
I love the show Monk! It has shot some scenes on location in SF where it supposedly takes place. We had some addresses of scenes from the opening credits so we drove around and took pictures of the spots but they don't match up exactly. It was fun.
