Wow! 6:10a.m. came more quickly than usual this morning. Well things are slowly beginning to develop. I spoke with the Heidelberg College campus minister Darryl Kistler. He gave me some advice for the fundraising process. First he mentioned that it is better to raise money in small increments rather than in large lump sums. He also instructed to seek out those who are generous with their money. He went on to explain that in some cases it is not the 'rich' that are most willing to give. His advice was much appreciated. Today I will visit with Nurse Bonnie Shawberry who is the head nurse at Stoner Health Center. Each year Bonnie puts together a health fair which involves the entire medical community of Tiffin.  All of these doctors and nurses gather at Heidelberg College to promote healthy lifestyle for students and the community. In order to bring this all together, Bonnie works year round to raise funds. I am sure she will provide some helpful tips especially when it comes to targeting the medical community. I found out about another funding possibility that may prove to be rewarding. Each year Heidelberg College allocates money specifically for the purpose of funding student-based research. This is called the Pepsi Grant. This trip could be considered student research in a way. After all, I will be learning about third world medicine. The only possible issue with receiving money from the Pepsi Grant is that I am a graduating senior. I am not sure if seniors are eligible for this money. On another note, I haven't been down to see Beck in a while. Beck, if you are reading this I miss you a lot and can't wait to see you! That's all for now. The journey is still unfolding. More to come.
