Yesterday we went over the 1000 mile mark on our journey. We have tried to stay off the Interstate highways and our ride has been less stressful. On our way to Colorado Springs we took Highway 83, 40 to 94 - pretty desolate country. We thought about the kids and how far they must have to travel to school every day. Cattle, horses,a few oil rigs, one jack rabbit and a chipmunk were about the only signs of life that we saw - oh, and a Harley rider. We haven't decided where we are heading today - we are torn between staying here another day and seeing some of the sights in the area or heading to Taos, New Mexico. Decision made - look around here and then travel to Pueblo or Trinidad later this afternoon.

We are enjoying your comments - thanks.

Now you're getting into the part of the country where I'd like to be in a CAR riding along taking in the scenery you are enjoying.

I would vote for some time in Taos -- interesting country.

Wishing we were you!
Pen and Phil,

Glad you are taking your time and the weather is warmer. The trip getting there is most of the fun - take time to enjoy. Will call Mom Ehl and read all to her soon. We can feel your excitement to be out on the road. We are making progress on the floor. 2/3 of the way done - I just may let you enter the house when you return :) Go with God and take it easy on the twists and turns of the mountains.
