Well we are getting close to our departure date for the Grand Canyon. We are getting things organized and business closed up for our 17 day trip. The weather is looking a little wet for Friday, but our hope is high for a break in the rain. The first leg takes to LA and Larry's home in Lincoln Nebraska. We are looking forward to seeing our good friends and catching up on what is happening in their world. We know the weather is always great in Nebraska as is their football program. First day will be about 475 miles with several stops for fuel and food. Len Smith our neighbor and riding buddy plans to ride with us for the first 60 miles or until it is time for breakfast.

Have a great trip!
Dear Penny and Phil, I like the idea of being able to travel with you (so to speak). I'll be checking in to track your progress. Have a grand (canyon) time! Love, Mike

Phil and Penny,
Checking in on your day. It sounds like a nice visit with your friends in Lincoln and a good ride to McCook. Lincoln is a nice town. I remember lots of good things when we were there for the Mid-America Print conference. I easily found the town on my map. I talked to Mother earlier. She told me all about the garden planting and thought you worked more than you should have Penny. She does like her flowers though. She'll go with Steve to church and breakfast tomorrow. Have a good rest and safe traveling on Mother's Day. Love, Mike

From Greenville - Wednesday AM
Penny and Phil,

Thanks for the photographs, the bikes and landscape look great but the moose looks better. Phil, I think it would be perfect in the back yard. The front legs look similar to parts of the huge orange Alexander Calder sculpture in Chicago.

Sorry you weren't able to see the shops in Taos. By this time (7:42et) I would guess you aren't on your bikes headed for Flagstaff.

I did note while I was looking at your site some of my notes are posted and some aren't. It's not a big deal, and maybe I just can't find them. Just wanted you to know that I've been following your trip religiously and enjoy all the postings and photographs.

Have a good ride to Flagstaff. I hope all the shops are open!

Love, Mike
