Where I stayed
Now to the scary stuff. As we headed west into Maryland some "nut" decided to take Barb out by changing lanes right into her. She was wearing a neon vest and had lights everywhere but I guess this guy could not see all that. I heard brakes behind me and after it was all over, she finally told me what had happened. As the guy came around me, he had this arrogant grin that, needless to say, ticked me off good (think righteous indignation) I didn't take it well. You don't try to kill my wife and then act like it was kinda fun and not get a reaction from me. I'll ask forgiveness later but at the time, I was not a good witness for the Lord. About an hour later, another skilled driver passed me on the right at a high rate of speed, pulling a utility trailer in a heavy rain squall. As he got just in front of me, he started to fishtail and the truck and trailer were almost sideways right in front of me. I couldn't hit the brakes hard so I let off the throttle, covered the brake lever and prayed for the best outcome. God provided and the truck righted itself, the guy slowed down for about 15 seconds and then took off faster than ever. I guess he wanted to get away from the witnesses to his stupidity. If it had been me, I'd be pulled over looking for a clean pair of shorts but I guess that's just me. Anyway, I guess God still loves me even with my anger at the guy who tried to kill Barb and we both escaped with little more than a good scare.
Because the rain would not stop and since tomorrow we plan to ride a shorter day to Kingsport, TN to visit with Lori we stopped at about 4:00. This gave us time to get some laundry done and have a nice dinner for the first time in days. Despite that, we hit a lot of states including New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. We had hoped to have breakfast with Walt from CMA but he got our message this morning and by the time we got his return message, we were headed east out of Washington DC.
For those of you tracking weather, we have stayed ahead of Tropical Storm Danny but the weekend forecast for our route looks like it will have a lot of rain anyway. That's okay since we have the gear for it and as long as we don't get all the wind, that's good too. Sorry but no pictures again today. The camera was all charged up but it was just too wet to take any good shots. The countryside in Western Maryland and all of West Virginia is beautiful and hopefully tomorrow we can get some good photos.
Today we rode 402 miles. This brings us to a total of 7085 miles. The Harley rolled over 50,000 miles today too.
I guess that's enough for today but please keep praying, Your prayers are what kept both Barb and I upright today!
