The seven hour flight went without a hitch. The only downside was there was no free inflight entertainment. I'd been quite looking forward to watching a film or something but you had to pay $18 for the privilege! No thank you!
We touched down in Tokyo at about 7pm local time
. We got through passport control with no problems and our bags were already waiting for us on the baggage claim so we didn't have to wait long. We found the bus stop we needed for the Narita Airport Toyoko Inn, where we would e staying for the night. We had to wait about 10 minutes for the bus to arrive and it felt soo cold. It was around 6 degrees but felt much colder after 7 weeks in Australia!
The bus arrived and it took us about 10 minutes to arrive at the hotel. Once there we dumped our bags and had dinner in the hotel restaurant. We both had the curry and rice option which was pretty tasty. My first foray into Japanese cuisine was a success!
So today was our flight from Cairns to Tokyo. We checked out of our hostel and waited for the airport shuttle bus to collect us. Along the way we picked up quite a few other passengers who all seemed to be headed for the same flight as us. It took about 30 minutes to get to the airport and once there we had to join the long and slow moving check in queue. We were standing in that line for so long, it got very dull and meant we only had a little bit of time in the departure lounge. I only just had enough time to buy some snacks and magazine. Within about half an hour we were sat on the plane, awaiting take off.
