The weather has seriously let us down. Today has been overcast with a couple of light showers, not ideal when our next three days are in a beachside suburb!

We checked out of Wake Up! and caught the bus over to Bondi. The hostel was a short walk from the main road so we flung our backpacks on and walked the rest of the way. We got to the Bondi Beach House YHA before official check in time so we just dumped our bags and headed down to the main concourse of shops and cafes. Feeling slightly peckish, we stopped at a cheap but cool looking place and Rikki had a BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato) toastie while I opted for some toasted banana bread :)

On our way down the road to the beach, we were drawn in by a hot chocolate cafe. We each got a small mug and it was delicious! It was so thick, we were practically drinking melted chocolate. We were in heaven!

We then had a quick walk along the beach and came across some Jellyfish called Bluebottles that had been washed up onto the shore, probably during the heavy rain last night. We made sure not to step on them in case they were still alive and able to sting us! Free our walk we only had a short amount of time before being able to check in so we popped into Peter Pans and took advantage of their free Internet.

Back at the hostel and checked in, we headed to our room. There was a guy still sleeping so we tried to be as quiet as possible. Rikki had a little nap and then we went out for a walk down to Bronte beach. Once there, we settled down with our kindles and had a little reading session while listening to waves crash against the shore. The weather wasn't great still but it wasn't horrible either, just incredibly cloudy.

As we were sat down, we noticed a guy with a camera getting a few different shots of the beach etc. I assumed he was working on Bondi Rescue but then two older gents came walking down the path talking at the camera. In between takes, Rikki asked them what they were filming and it was for a programme called Current Affair and the topic they were covering was an old music band who came from the Bronte area. He said we might be in the shot, so you never know, we might be on Aussie television at some point.

We took a stroll along the cliff top towards Tamarama beach and sat on the sand there for a little while. We watched a load of surfers head out into the water but daren't go in ourselves - the water was too cold for more than just a paddle. One of the guys who was sat near us, at one point decided to get up and walk towards to the rock face. He then proceeded to climb up the rocks and then walk along the cliff top pathway. It seemed really strange that he would choose to get there via this method, but each to their own I guess.

We continued on our cliff top stroll and halfway between Tamarama and Bondi we got to a little bay where I saw a lone surfer out in the water. I watched him for a little while because I was worried he might be stranded. I was all ready to go and inform the lifeguards but he soon rode a wave in and climbed out of the water. There are lots of runners on the cliff top pathway and they have little workout stations scattered around for anyone to use as well. Clearly Bondi is a very fitness orientated place to live!

Back down at Bondi we started to look for somewhere to eat. We walked around for a while and tried to eat in a hotel bar but we didn't have any ID on us so we couldn't stay there. This, it turned out, was the best thing that could have happened because the door we exited from was right by an interesting little Vietnamese restaurant. We had a quick look at the menu and decided to go for it - thank goodness we did! The food was so delicious :) I had Barramundi with red rice and Asian vegetables, Rikki had a make-your-own dish which consisted of BBQ beef wrapped in something, vermicelli noodles, chopped carrot and some other vegetable, mixed leaves and rice paper. There was also a dipping sauce for the completed rice paper wrap. He had to soak the rice paper in a bowl of warm water provided until it was soggy and then fill it with a bit of everything before wrapping it up and dipping it in the sauce. We were both very happy with our choices. For dessert, it being Pancake Day and all, I opted to get the banana and Nutella pancakes - they were the perfect ending to the day :)
