So we didn't really have any set plans for today but we knew we had to book various things like coaches, accommodation and the rest of our tours and stuff. We went first to the travel agency Peter Pan, after having breakfast where we used their internet to book those things. We also paid off the rest of our booking for our trip so that's all set in stone which is a tad daunting but very exciting.

After leaving Peter Pans, we wandered down to Darling Harbour again where we searched for quite a while to find a place for lunch. Eventually we found a food court where Jennie had an Indian curry and I had some Chinese food. There was some really nice restaurants there but they were all way out of our preferable budget. The food was alright, nothing amazing. We also stopped in the tourist information centre and asked them about a fireworks display we heard was going to happen that night in the harbour. They said it was happening and to be there at 9.

After that we just had a look around the Harbour before walking towards these Chinese Friendship Garden which is only a few minutes walk away. There was some Serbian Festival going on in a park there which was quite odd. Anyway, we found the Chinese Friendship Garden and being silly, thought it might be free which of course it wasn't. We saw that it would be free tomorrow but the woman said it would be packed with people and you wouldn't be able to enjoy the garden so much so we decided to just pay the $6 each. It was really nice in there, a bit humid but very pretty and they had a few waterfalls and some nice little temple huts which you could sit in. It was really peaceful and relaxing although you could heard the faint sound of Serbian music in the air which spoilt it a bit.

Leaving the garden, we decided to go on the monorail which is going to stop running in June or July so we thought we should do it whilst it's still running. I was feeling quite thirsty so we stopped briefly for a drink and I found these weird see-through cans of sparkling flavoured water, with one flavoured Watermelon. I thought I should probably try it and it was so bizarre as it did taste like I had just taken a bit of watermelon but just as a liquid instead. All these new discoveries!

On the monorail we just got a round trip and it was a reasonable amount of fun but nothing spectacular. We did spot a Topman and Topshop though nearby the Harbour from the monorail so we walked to that and had a look around and looked at some of the other shops. I bought some swimming shorts and Jennie got a top from a really nice shop. We then walked back to our hostel where we mentioned to Jake, a guy in our room about the fireworks display in the Harbour and invited him along. He said he would like to so Jennie and I popped out quickly for dinner and then met him back in our room where we walked down to Darling Harbour. We we were a minute or two late for the start but the show wasn't especially spectacular. It lasted about 5 minutes but the finale was quite good and the fireworks were so close to us which we hadn't had before.

Once they were finished we slowly made our way back to the hostel where we had a short rest before heading down to the hostel's bar. We had a few drinks there and tried a shot Jake knows from Canada called the Hand Grenade. It was really good and we will show anyone back in the UK what it is! We then headed out for a wonder and passed a bar with a long queue so didn't go in but on our walk back to the hostel, the queue had gone so we went in. We had a few drinks there and had a chat about random things before heading back to the hostel. It was a pretty good night and we tried a few new drinks we hadn't before including Skittles Vodka.

Anyway, sleep time, more soon,

Rikki x
