When you start to look like your passport photo, you know it's time to come home.
We routinely have our breakfast, prepared by our B&B hosts after which we pack our car and head the relatively short distance toward Rome's Fiumicino International airport.
We pass by the excavation site of the extraordinary castle and medieval town located in the middle of Ostia Antica, but there is no time to stop. We arrive at the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea and turn right for the last few kilometres in the direction of the airport.
We fill the hire car's tank for the last time and dutifully return it, in relatively the same condition as when taken (other than a thick layer of dirt on the outside).
We enter the terminal and set our brains into "remote control mode". Time passes and before we know it our amazing 102 day (2 on a plane) adventure is closing rapidly as our Cathay jet approaches Melbourne.
Already I am thinking: "Where to next?"
