A few last minute purchases and we return to load our luggage (no limits for the ship) onto the waiting shuttle bus. A short 10 minute ride and we pull up at the cruise terminal to the waiting line of luggage porters whom kindly inform us how well they are going to look after our luggage (the driver of the free shuttle and the porters all seem to have the same affliction with their arms, which are bent at the elbows with palms open and facing up!).
We are herded into a snaking line of a diverse bunch and shuffle slowly in one direction for 50 feet, about turn one step to the right and then back again. After innumerable times we pass through immigration and then a Princess counter. Waiting for us next is a smiling photographer standing in front of an enormous picture of the Emerald Princess
With formalities over we are now free for the next 27 days of what we hope will be a well-earned rest and lots more fun and excitement. We make our way out on deck for the Sail Away Party after which we will ponder our activity time whilst the ship sails trans-Atlantic for 6 days to our first port of call Ponta Delgada in the Azores, Portugal. Needless to say, our pondering will be assisted with an exhaustive list of activities, dining venues, pools and hot tubs, sporting venues, theatres (live and movie), health and spa facilities, shopping venues (not more!), lectures, games, etc. etc. etc.
How will I find any time to write this blog!!
