On Sunday it was another churches turn for their proccession. This one was bigger than the previous one i saw. The place was crowded with people from Guatemala city and every pickpocket within 100 miles was in town. They left their church at 900am and marched thru town carrying their floats, stopping in front of the cathedral where the cardinal of Antigua? gave a stirring speech (it sounded stirring as it was in spanish)
I headed up to the Cerro de la Cruz (Hill of Cross), which offers fine views over Antigua, although it was a little hazy.
After lunch and an afternoon siesta, i rejoined the procession. the floats were now lit by lights powered by mobile generators push along behind them by purple clad boys. I noticed that the floats seemed a bit lower, but they had been carrying them for 12 hours and still had 4 hours to go. Roll on good Friday when the biggest proccession occurs.
