Hello all!
Ok so we arrived in the lovely little town of invercargil on tuesday evening after a couple of bus journeys.  First impressions of the town was it was very green, we had arrived next to the big queens park, full of different types of gardens, aviary and fountains.  The hostel was lovely, a big victorian villa with big spacious rooms, bay windows, a very modern kitchen AND....a dishwasher!!!! first time we have had a hostel with such a luxury! we nipped out for food and a quick explore of the main street, plenty of shops to visit for the next day and a pak "n" save - our fav supermarket here! We spent the evening meeting lots of people in the hostel (german, swedish, netherlands...).

Wednesday morning we pottered into the town and hired a car... (see bluff entry for rest) =)

In the afternoon we dipped in and out of the shops, found one called glowing sky, full of the amazing merino clothing from out here, keeps you super warm and dry but this couple design in for nice clothes (normally its trekking stuff!) we met the woman who set it up with her husband, shes an english girl was backpacking out here and met her now husband on stewart island! how sweet! so this is now there business and its such lovely stuff. A visit to a minatue hand made chocolate factory with a seriously good hot chocolate and just about to set off to enjoy queens park and the heavens opened!! literally! showing no sign off stopping we had to make a dash for the hostel, every inch of us drenched we dried off with big cups of tea and many a card game, trivial pursuit and cosy chatter with new hostel people. A guy in our room went to oxford uni and was busy touring nz on his bike! very impressed! You make friends in hostels very quickly, all intogether in the same room, no privacy when they see you sleeping, when you first wake up, or any night time adventures - we were up most of the night with a guy who had massive stomach upset...You make friends in hostels very quickly! we are learning to have no shame and be totally open with everyone we meet, its really an extraordinary way of living, so much fun, so many people, so many new stories to tell!

One more sleep and we were off to the next town.  Invercardgills a lovely little town, right at the bottom of the country, a lovely little place to visit just be armed with suncream, umbrella, and a wind stopping jumper!
Lots of love to everyone,
