We had a lovely last evening of wine and food in england with my uncle and auntie and a sweet goodbye from the kids, thankyou so much for having us!
Heathrow was massive, they even have a harrods in there! everything was going very smoothly until we got on the plane, an announcement said we were having servicing issues then eventually we got told that someone had by accident put fairy liquid in the water supply...i am not kidding. When they had gone to get water for drinks it had come out all bubbly! I thought this was brilliant...two hours later not so much, but they had flushed the systems out twice and we took off. Unbelievable views and I kept watching the engines to make sure they didnt stop, incredible! half an hour in we were told that the water was still bubbly so no water - you just have to laugh!
By the time we had got off the plane in America we had been on it about 14hours!! defo good to get off and remember how to use your legs! security was FULL ON in LA, i was fingerprinted, thumbprinted, eyes take photos off and grilled why I was visiting but soon enough we were zooming through the sights, lights and honking of LA, what an amazing place. We had an awesome driver who was like yea I'm driving you to HOLLYWOOD yea yea yea! in an america accent that sounds really good as opposed to reading it!
We checked in and asked to be pointed in the direction of your typical american diner...jonny rockets did gooood burgers and felt just like we were in a film! we soon crashed out back at the hostel...it may have only been 9pm but it was 5am our time so we still felt pretty hard core!
Yesterday we woke at quarter past 4!! but this morning it was half 6 so I'm nearly in the right time zone!! we went to a farmers market that sold every kind of food imaginable, bought lots of fresh fruit and wandered through, they made peanut butter in front of you and you could buy anthing from mongolian ribs to homemade icecream and waffles, burgers, thai, chinese..wow
The beverly hills mall seemed just a bit further on according to the map so we walked to that...it was a fair way but people dont really seem to walk here! every second shop is a nail salon and it is so relaxed here, shops dont open till about 10 and you can just stroll through the day, love this life style!! I saw every designer brand known to man in the mall, HUGE building and wonderful views out over hollywood.
In the afternoon we trotted to the Hollywood forever cemetry, sounds jumping I know, as the guide book says Hollywood really does live here forever, the sign looms over the famous graves from the nearby hill! a pretty amazing place. We headed on up to sunset boulivard (spelling??!) saw CNN, nickleodeon, lots of important places before we hit the sights of hollywood boulevard!! i saw colin firth, elton john, arnold schwatsni...however he spells it, all framed in stars on the floor, i didnt know whether to look up or down, lights buildings pictures limos, film screens everywhere. we sipped cocktails in the hard rock cafe (well steve had beer!) and grabbed a film at a theatre, a hotdog at skoobys and soaked in the atmosphere!
Today we're off to the beaches!
Lots of love to everyone,
