Hey everyone - just a reminder that the photos on the Blue Mountains and Sydeny entries are now about to be uploaded (technology permitting!)and if I say so myself, are definately worth a look!!
So after rising bright and early after our Bridgeclimb and final evening in Sydney we caught our 3 hour flight to New Zealand. On arrival in Christchurch we had a little look around and then as it was a Saturday went to sample the local nightlife in the biggest city in the South Island! It was not as busy as we both expected and probably the best place did not let me in with my Chucks on (Backpackers don't carry shoes!!) so we were denied and a reasonably early night was in order. The following day we set off on our mission to find a hire car for the duration of our travels in NZ as we have had enough of buses and trains for the moment! It turns out that having your own veichle is definately the best way to travel around here as the sceneery is awesome (detailed in later posts)
We found our dream machine which is a 1.5 Mazda Familia - an absolute beast!! Got a good deal on the rental price and after a second reasonably chilled out night in Christchurch we set off on the journey to Dunedin and Otago Peninsular to spot some wildlife!
With nature being the unpredictable creature that it is we did not spot any massive albertrosses but saw some seals and one or two other cool birds and things.
After one night in one of the nicest most homely hostels we have come across (they even had a cat!) we set off for the spectacular scenery of Milford Sound......
