Have no fear, we're back, after being AWOL from the blog for 9 days - how rude!

We've been up to quite a lot throughout this time though...

First off, we went to stay with my relatives in the western suburbs of Sydney. We had the opportunity of seeing the harbour bridge and opera house for the first time too, it was strange seeing the sights we've seen on a thousand postcards, but we were really looking forward to getting stuck in! We got our first taste of the nightlife and went to the casino, where we both emerged victorious - if only by a few dollars. We were treated like kings by Jenny and family, and we were very sorry that we had to leave them and the home comforts behind and head for the Blue Mountains.

It was starting to dawn on us just how much of an awesome city Sydney was - the Blue Mountains being in such close proximity, the beaches, the weather, the sights of the city 3 sisters...and 2 Brothers!
3 sisters...and 2 Brothers!
. Anyway, the weather was pretty poor in the mountains, and we booked a canyoning trip - which is not really what you want to be doing when it's a bit chilly outside. We warmed up by going for a romantic stroll through the beautiful scenery, but were even more trepidatious when we arrived for our canyoning the next day and told to get fitted out with wetsuits - it turns out that you get really wet when you go canyoning!

The morning was spent doing some pretty tame abseiling, but after lunch we went into the valley a little, put on our wetsuits and started our walk down the stream. The scenery was beautiful, and before long we were diving 6 ft into the pools below - it was awesome! The trip culminated in a 30 metre abseil down Emporerss Waterfalls, which, to be honest, was more of a controlled fall because of the amount of times we slipped and ate rock! We don't have any pics of this amazing trip, but we do have a postcard showing someone doing the abseil we did - which will just have to do!

The next day was supposed to be spent mountain biking through the mountains but the only bike rental place in town shuts on Tuedays - rubbish! So, instead, we chilled out in the Blue Mountains YHA - the best hostel in the world, surely! - then we headed back to the wonders of Sydney.
