This must be a first - we are actually doing an entry for the place we are actually in! We have approx 2 hours left in Byron Bay and we are both in agreement that it is one of the coolest, best places we have visited so far. After arriving from the disappointing Surfers we checked into a brilliant lodge, Aquarius for three nights. Situated a stones throw from the beach and next to some cool shops, coupled with the positive things we had heard from fellow travellers before we even arrived, we felt that Byron was going to be special!
We met a couple who were in our dorm and hit the town at night ending up in the classiest of joints - Cheeky Monkeys! During which the female of the couple challenged me (Pipe) to a mini drinking competiton (of course I could never back down - come on!) of which the honours were fairly even but I think its fair to say I coped better in the morning
The following day we were booked up to go to the travellers legend that is Nimbin - on a daylong 'alternative' tour. Nimbin has seen much tree hugging hippy action throughout the years and although is tiny in size (pop 400!) has a much larger reputation which is similar to Amsterdam, if you know what I mean! The pic of me and 'Grandma' (a notoriously good 'baker' in the area) came out with a classic quote to Bonwick - "You have the worse digestive system beacause you are going bald"! The alternative tour was conducted with a soundtrack and made stop-offs at waterfalls and also some crazy sexist hippy bloke's house which all made for a very enjoyable day!
Today we lazed on the beach and walked up to the lighthouse look out and we are currently preparing for the unappealing 14 hour Greyhound trip down to Sydney for our last week in Australia. Until then friends...

Beautiful Byron Bay
! In the morning Sam and Myself went our seperate ways as I signed up for my first surf lesson and Sam went sea kayaking with dolphins. My first taste of surfing was absolutely awesome and I even managed to stand up a few times in the process - check the pics!!
