With a heavy heart we left our crazy Canadian chums and Rainbow Beach to go to Noosa. Noosa is a classy resort, reminiscant of Nice or some such other classy seaside resorts. We had no money to spend there so we trawled through the shops under the pretense of Pipe looking for board shorts (or should that be 'bored'shorts?!) the highlights of Noosa were: a) our accomadation: Halse YHA Lodge, a 19th century wooden hostel, with a log cabin feel. Sitting in the living room area was almost like being at home - it was lovely stuff. And b) the awesome seafood platter we treated ourselves to on our second night - we are roughing it really!

We also had our first real opportunity to hit the waves. We got out a surfboard and a belly board, and much biting of sand ensued as the waves slammed us into the shore. I don't think there's a better way to spend a morning than sitting on the beach watching people surf, then having a go yourself - I still can't stand up - but belly boarding will suffice Brisbane City

! One observation we've had is that it seems Australians don't work, they just go to the beach....ah, to be an Australian!

After Noosa we went to Brisbane. It's a nice, clean city that would be good to live and work in, but there's not much to do there other than shop. We went to the Suncorp Stadium to see if we could get tickets for the auspicous tie of the Socceroos Vs Paraguay, but $90 tickets were the only ones left, and we were skinted after our seafood platter! So we walked away, with the imaginative chants of 'Aussies', 'Aussies' fading into the distance - the game was crap anyway; we went out instead to one of the many clubs.

The next day was easily the worst of the whole trip (for me anyway) and I am trying to scrub it from my mind - maybe explaining it here will be some sort of therapy!
After what was mot such a heavy night, I awoke feeling bad, with an excruciating stomach ache. A subway breakfast didn't help, but we were going to have a gentle day at the Koala sanctuary so it didn't really matter. I got my camera out to take a picture of one of the cute, cuddly koalas, and I dropped it - it broke. Luckily I retained the photos, but no amount of Kangaroos, pythons, Dingoes, wombats - all of which lived at the koala sanctuary - could ease my pain. Although, the cassowary, which eluded us in Cape Tribulation, did slightly lift my spirits - see the pic; they're awesome animals! Anyway, donations to the Sam Bonwick replacement digital camera fund will be kindly accepted at the usual address!

Er...then we went to Surfers Paradise. They've got a lot of high rise buildings, some are kind of impressive; an average town, a real shooting gallery where you can find magnums, shotguns etc (I don't know how we resisted!) but it wasn't as good as it sounds, and that's about it, because I was too ill to go out - we didn't even get any photos!
