Howdy all,
Here's one for all you doubters out there; this is Sam! I've managed to pry myself away from the Sam Song Thai whisky (lovely stuff) and the Chang beer (6.4% also lovely) and write you all a little post....with some super piccies for your viewing pleasure - if i can figure out how to put them on here!
We're on Thailand's second largest island, Koh Chang, it's not too far from Cambodia. Alas, time and money constraints, as well as a dash of realism from Pipe have dashed our chances of going there though - maybe next time!
Anyway, Koh Chang, after a 6 hour bus ride - our second attempt, as we optimistically thought we could catch a 8am bus...we got up at 8.30am - and long wait for a ferry, that I could have sworn was never going to come, we made it to Coconut Beach resort in Koh Chang
On top of the scuba diving, we've been elephant trekking - that's for you mum! - we swam with the elephant in the river and the Thai handler took great pleasure in watching us fall off as he made the elephant dip into the water - think a bucking bronco ride but in the water! - our trip nearly came to a premature end though, when Pipe started to slip off the back and grabbed hold of the nearest thing to him...me! I can't beleive we managed to stay on, lucky we did because we would have fell about 7ft onto rocks. Erm....we also saw an awesome waterfall, a little tip: don't try and swim against the current of a waterfall - i'm sure the pics will speak for themselves...
That's the highlights for now, i could write so much more but that would just bore me and you - hopefully the pics speak for themselves. We've got an early night tonight, big exam tomorrow!
PS: For the boys back in Ipswich: I won two bets off bet in the space of an afternoon. One was a daring feet of swimming endurance from me, the other was a shocking hole in his football knowledge - as i'm sure you're all aware, i will now have to let him win all bets or we'll be going our seperate ways!
All the best,
Sam and Pipe

Elephant trek
. Basically, our bungalow is on the beach - i'll add some pics for you to see just how close - and we're having a ball. Most of our stay in Koh Chang has been taken up with doing our PADI scuba diving course, and it's definitley been worth it so far, although we did miss the first sunny period because we were watching some cheesy American instruction video! We've seen barracuda, sea cucumbers, eels and loads of other tropical fishies. After a bit of a shaky start in the pool yesterday, we got the hang of it and today was a breeze, however, i have to admit i did get a little sea sick!
