made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together."
Sleeping to the sound of gunshots 2 blocks outside my hotel. Machine gun around the neck of a 23 year old soldier eating a chocolate ice cream bar at the bus station. Civilian man with a gun on his belt at the light show at the park. Cute 20 year old boys in Ray Bans with massive pistols dangling around their shoulders like guitars, smiling and chatting on the bus. Riding the metro from Jewish section to Arab section, pressed like sardines, standing by an attractive Israeli soldier giving me directions on when to get off the bus, his gun pressed against my
thigh in the crowd
"Twenty minutes after I met him at the weekly protest in Palestine he got his foot shot."
Plastic machine gun toys for sale. Guns N Moses tourist shirts. Arabs selling souvenirs all along the Via Dolorosa of the last walk of Jesus. Wondering if Christians sell souvenirs in Mecca. Finding the speck in my own eye.
"The tank sat right outside my brother's bedroom window for 40 days. We had no food and couldn't leave the house for 2 weeks." Lord have mercy on us all, sinners.
Orthodox Greek priest at the site of the first Christian martyr killing, telling me even after 25 years he is considering the tensions are too much for him to stay. "Yea, someone was killed just yesterday over there."
Christian Arabic bookstores. Turkish flags with thank you signs all over Arab streets
installation on the desert highway of a tank with a heart on the pistol.
"This street is closed, only Muslims allowed on this street."
Beautiful Hebrew, beautiful Arabic. What will my 98 shekel exit tax be spent on? Absurdities in the Holocaust Museum - horror of horrors.
"Where are you from?" -Israeli man "America." -Me "The worst country." -Israeli man
Western Walls, Garden Tombs and Golden Mosques, holy holy holy. Where do we go from here? In what framework do find Him? Religion? Wars? Or our hearts?
"The Kingdom of God is within you." God. Jehovah. Allah.
Imagine there's no country. It isn't hard to do. Nothing to kill or die for. And no religion too.
Imagine all the people. Living life in peace.
