The Moorings Timeshare Resort

After a pretty disappointing fishing tally with only 2 eating size fish caught.. Gus & I decided to lash out and go on a fishing charter from Moruya ... just down the road from the timeshare where we have been staying for a week....Gus & I made a bet on who would catch the biggest fish...
We set off at 9am on the high tide a few klms from shore... We spotted at least a dozen whales with one emerging briefly just metres from the boat... awesome creatures..
Thre were six passengers and the boat.
Unfortunately Gus didn't catch a thing and things were looking dismal when suddenly Pam hooked a small fish... only joking!... A whoppa shark  approx 45kgs and over 1.8M in length..
It was a 7 gill shark... apparently not common and usually lives in 6000ft depth of water.
It is a prehistoric breed with no dorsal fin. Took Pam over 20 minutes to bring in..Was easily  the biggest fish caught on the day...the other fish caught was a small gummy shark and a few Flathead.
Pam's wrist and arm was sore as it was quite a fight to get it an board the boat.
The guys filleted the catch and it easily made 8 big  meals...Suprisingly a lot of the shark seems to go to waste...
Easily the biggest fish Pam has ever caught... She is still getting over it!
The water was quite rough... a "short sea" which made a few people feel sick.
Not only did Gus not catch one fish but he spewed up over the boat.! Mind you Pam also felt quite ill and another guy we were with got sick as well.

Nevertheless a memorable afternoon. We didn't return to the resort until 7 hours later .. so quite an exhausting day!
