We then left for Osijek, my dad's hometown, some 250km east of Zagreb. Osijek is
the main centre of the province called Slavonia which is rather flat and full of fields. I played on my iPod most of the journey
We went out for ice-cream as we felt like we would die from the heat. After ice-cream, we went to the cemetery to visit my grandfather's grave. He died on Queen's birthday 2012, very quickly after we found out his cancer had spread. The grave is not finished yet, his name needs to get engraved on the granite and then it will get put up. My grandmother, dad's mum now lives alone in their house in Osijek.
After that, we went to my dad's cousin Vesna. I met my other second cousin's children. Their names are Filip and Paulina. Filip is almost seven years old and Paulina is four and a half. They were overly hyper-active and loud. I couldn't wait until we left.
When we came home, I had meat and potatoes for dinner. It was world-class. While I am writing this, my dad's cousin Mario came to the door. Mario plays professional futsal, a small type of football or soccer. He brought a bottle of wine made by himself, and stayed for a chat.
