Well I can tell you my 58 year old body would prefer somewhere else to sleep than sitting up in a coach chair on the train. It is better than the plane for sure with more room but in the end a little like being asked do you want to be whipped with a cat of nine tails or a leather whip, neither please! Okay it was better, much better than being whipped and I can do it but definitely would prefer not to sleep in coach on the plane or the train. Glad I have a sleeper for the 2 night train trip from Chicago to Seattle.

The train arrived about 1 hour late in Chicago and when I put the suitcase in a locker I was informed I needed to be back by 2 pm to pick up the bag for my 3:30 train. Beats me why but I didn't want any trouble so with only 3 hours I skipped the Art Museum and walked around Chicago. It really is a interesting city to walk around with the river cutting through it and all the boat traffic there. Also a wide variety of architectural styles to view. I would like to see the inside of the Opera House on the outside it is a massive interesting building with a vaguely Art Deco look. I wonder just what the style is inside.

The windy city was really windy the day I was there. It looked so nice out of the window of the train so I only wore my vest around town and I regretted that some. It was very sunny but what with the buildings and the wind off the lake it really was cool. But it wasn't to bad of walking weather and gave me a good reason to drop into Starbucks for the first time in 10 days. We stopped at one in Quebec but besides in New York that's the only one we saw. Can't say I missed it as the coffee shop on the Eurodam was really quite nice and served a very good non-fat mocha.

Got to the station, picked up my bag and caught the train to Galesburg with no problem but had there were no coach seats so I had to store my bag and sit in the lounge car. Actually it was nicer to sit there and read than in coach so that worked out well. It was a nice comfortable trip and I arrived about 30 minutes late, Bev was waiting for me for the ride to Odin IL to see my brother Wayne.
