Ephesus is an amazing city of history and tradition. All but ruins now it embodies the advance of knowledge and faith while time and nature has reduced it to facades of times past. Walking the marble streets, I could almost hear the hustle and bustle of the ancient market. In the Celsus Library my mind wandered to the level and lost of knowledge. The Home of the Virgin Mary brought its own miracle. The Temple of Artemis helped me make many connections.

It is Ephesus where the Apostle John wenti to preach the Gospel and tradition has it he brought Mary with him. So most maybe interested in my miracle at the House of the Virgin Mary.

If you read my previous blog about Mt. Athos, you will remember I had stomach "issues". Monastery Revenge I called it. Well what I did not share, is that this lasted almost 3 weeks and was in full swing on my visit to the House of the Virgin Mary. For 3 weeks my favorite foods have been bread, rice and water.

(Note: I am not know to be "Mary" person) Mary's house is located in ideal location on the top  of hill overlooking the Agean Sea. And about 10 yards from the house there is a natural spring (not so natural now in that they have added spickets none-the-less the the water comes from the mountain). When I was inside the house, I spoke with the Franciscan monk who was responsible for watching the house, now an active Catholic Church. I asked him if miracles have been associated with the location. He said yes, even Muslims come to site in search of a miracle. After 20 minutes of some quality time in the house/church I went outside where I lit two candles 1 for all I love (especially Ashlee) and one for the world. Then I made my way to the Spring. There I drank of the water and prayed that the problems with my stomach would teach me well and if possible could the lesson end soon. I then tied a prayer sheet to the prayer wall and left to catch my bus. Oh yes there was a stop, one of many, at the Water Closet.

That evening for dinner I ventured a bit and added chicken to my meal. My stomach still had pain and lots of action. So much for a quick miracle.

The next morning...the pain was activity beyond the normal...and my energy was high. So I had a fuller breakfast, actually ate lunch and dinner tasted marvelous. As I write, almost 2 days later I feel very well, had an incredible Turkish meal in a local families home and am drinking Efes Pilsen Bira BEER.
