So we are ambulanced to the private hospital in Colombo; thank goodness for travel insurance. A 3 hour'ish journey of sirens, horns & a driver who cannot appreciate 'not time critical just braking critical'. We have a private a/c room & I get the sofa bed. Everything is re X-rayed etc & luckily there's no worse a diagnosis (there was a worry about the knee). Because of swelling there's a delay untill it can be set & plastered up.
Life now settles into a pattern - nothing much to do, iffy food, iffy TV, & nice staff. We are in suburban Colombo & overlook a sports ground. Luckily there is a schools cricket competition going on for a week. For the first few days the internet cafe is out & I also have to go back to Negombo to pick up the bag we left there to pick up on our last night. I sort a haircut & the local supermarket. Life sneaks by - cricket/football on TV, saccerine US HBO movies & the occaissonal tour of the hospital in the chair.
We plan the return & have various confusing telecons until we sort the flights back (one day later than planned & yes Liz got 1st class Colombo to Dubai

Sena - thanks for the thoughts, Liz is just out of the cast but still on crutches. Everything is going to plan but it will be a little while before she is fully recovered. Everyone in Tangalle was very helpful & Liz is determined to come back sometime.
Keep well - hope business is OK, post elections troubles reported here cannpt be that helpful.
