By the way, is it true americans can only say ´neat´´cool´& awesome´about any wildlife?
have you got the message we are now more tourists than travelers & its a bit irritating.
Another transfer, another resort hotel; still I was expecting this as it is next to the National Park and a converted ranch. However I´d booked 3 nights based on some walking plans & this was really one day too many given tendency to rain & Liz not being up to a lot of walking. Again this place takes the Michael as we are basically prisoners here 20k from almost anywhere $3.50 for a small beer is not amusing on top of a $18 buffet. Our first afternoon it throws it down & as its a ´lodge´the solar water heating doesn´t work without sun & there´s no TV. So its scrabble....next day saves us with an outstanding walk to waterfall Victoria and paths seemingly flooded with butterflies, particularly the famous big Costa Rican Blue. More rain later but enough sun earlier to heat the water. We also found the park closed on that Monday - again I´m not impressed we can be booked here & not told the park is closed - no I do not want a horse ride at $25 an hour....so we make the Park on Tuesday we still cant see the volcano but there are lots of thermal bubbling mud pools - think of a Costa Rican Rotorua & again lots of butterflies & a big waterfall. A big wind blows up & a dodgy walk back is needed. More scrabble follows as the weather closes in. Definately not a place to be in poor weather with no car!
